Home Birth

I remember in the Philippines, some women in the past generations and even up to now, to now, prefers to have home birth. Home birth is a lot cheaper but also risky. There are some women in the Philippines who can't afford to hospital bills also opted to do home birth. I know it's not a choice for them as they really have no other option rather than do home birth with the help of midwife, family nurse friend and some just get help from what they called "Mananabang". I really admire them for they were able to survive labor/delivery with out any Epidural...as most women I talked to said that they can't give birth without any Epidural as giving birth is really too painful to bear.

Here in the US, some pregnant woman opt to do home birth too but only if you meet this following guidelines:

1. You are in a low-risk category - it means no hypertension, diabetes, or other chronic medical problems, and no history of a previous difficult labor.

2. You must be attended by a physician or a CNM.

3. Have transportation available and live with in 30 miles of a hospital in case emegency happened and needed to be in the hospital.

I was born before my due date, then my mom visit my dad in the farm, where it's an hour drive from the hospital, so it's just my mom and dad. My dad catch me and he said I hold his middle finger so tight..and the rest is a long beautiful story..
