American Style Fast Food

I have been craving for Jollibee hamburger and Buco Piña Pie for quite some time. I promised myself that once I fly back home in the Philippines, I would make sure to make sawa of my favorite Jollibee Buco Piña Pie. As in todo to the max na kainan. Just thinking about it now makes me hungry and crave for more. How I wish some day, someone from Texas will be able to franchise Jollibbee! For sure papatok talaga yan.

Jollibee is an American-style fast-food restaurant with Filipino-influenced dishes specializing in chicken, burgers, spaghetti and some local Filipino dishes.

Bacon Cheedar Fries

I have never tried "Bacon Cheddar Fries" before until I came here in USA. If you’ll ask me what fries I love, I would answer Macdonald French fries without thinking at all… Yes I love French Fries though I don't like some fries I have tasted from other restaurants or fast food as it is either too mushy or oily... I was amazed when I first tasted this "Bacon Cheddar Fries" in Cheddars restaurants even though it was a bit oily (of course cheddars duh)… Anyway back to the “Bacon Cheddar Fries which obviously compose of Bacon, cheese and potatoes, it really taste good especially if you dipped it on a salad dressing like “Ranch Style Dip”… humm good.... ooopppss my diet lol!

Chicken BBQ

This is Filipino Chicken BBQ, it's juicy, flavory and very taste. Indeed, the best BBQ in the whole world... para sa akin lang ok! Oh it's not just for me because hubby also loves it and I am sure other Filipino people would agree as well.

Chicken Barbecue and other kinds of BBQ are very popular and common in the Philippines. Where ever you go at four o’clock in the afternoon and beyond, you can always find barbecue on the street side in Manila. But for me, the best one is the one from our province. The barbecue stand or vendors in our province does not only sell different variation of barbecues but they also have “Chicken Soup” and “Puso”, a rice wrap from coconut leaves in diamond shape. Hummm that’s one of the things I miss in the Philippines.

Green Banana

Green Banana is good when you boil it. There are different ways you can do on your boiled banana. You can make "Nilusak" from it or eat it by dipping in "Bagoong". Hummm just talking about it makes me crave for it. I wouldn't remember I have a green banana in the fridge until I saw this picture on my album. I wrote down a note so I can remember cooking it tomorrow.

Bananas are a good source of Vitamin C, A and minerals. Vitamin C keeps our body tissues strong. It also helps the body use iron and aids chemical actions in the body. While Vitamin A is needed for proper growth and protection from disease.

Banana is also good to eat when you have diarrhea as it contains minerals and nutrients that will really help you.

What a pretty and fresh tomato it is from HM. Do you know that tomatoes have a phytochemical compound called Lycopene which have a powerful anticancer properties especially prostate cancer? Well it is, I read it on the health magazine when we visited hubby’s blood doctor few days ago. A lot of people include tomatoes on their diet because aside from lycopene, tomatoes have poor calories that are really good for your diet. It also has a lot of vitamin C and very rich in water which is about more than 90%.

Beer History

Between 10,000 and 15,000 years ago, some humans discontinued their nomadic hunting and gathering and settled down to farm. Grain was the first domesticated crop that started that farming process

4,000 years ago in Babylon, it was an accepted practice that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead or beer he could drink. In ancient Babylon, the calendar was lunar-based - based on the cycle of the moon. The month following any wedding was called the "honey month" which evolved into "honeymoon". Mead is a honey beer and what better way to celebrate a honeymoon.

According to some research and studies, Beer is world's oldest and most popular alcoholic beverage. It is produced by fermentation of sugars derived from starch-based material — the most common being malted barley.Less widely used starch sources include millet, sorghum and cassava root in Africa, potato in Brazil, and agave in Mexico, among others.

Beer in a Can
On January 24, 1935, the first canned beer, "Krueger Cream Ale," was sold by the Kruger Brewing Company of Richmond, VA.

7 Foods Every Woman Must Eat

Reading news and articles online is one of my everyday routine. Today I read about "7 Foods every Woman must eat" Yahoo Food". I would like to share it here on my blog for all my readers and visitors. It is so important to take of your health while we are still young. As they always said, Prevention is better than Cure! Moreover, according to doctors who did the studies about this, they said that by doing his habit will make us look our real age or even 4 years younger. Humm I would like to try this one. hahaha

Bellow are the seven foods a woman must eat.

1. BERRIES
Why: Ounce for ounce, berries have more protective plant antioxidants than almost any other food. "These compounds not only lower your disease risks, they help prevent memory loss," says Somer.

2. SALMON
Why: Sure salmon is a prime source of omega-3s, the healthy fats that fend off heart disease and maybe more, but are you aware that a mere 3 ounces of the fish serves up 170% of your daily vitamin B12 and more than 80% of your D

3. LEAFY GREENS
Why: It's almost impossible to meet your nutritional needs without eating dark leafy greens, from spinach and romaine to collard greens and chard. They're huge sources of fiber; vitamins C and K; folic acid (a B vitamin that guards the heart and memory and fights birth defects); lutein, a vision protector; and four essential minerals: calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium.

4. WHOLE GRAINS
Why: They have up to 96 percent more fiber, magnesium, zinc, chromium and vitamins E and B6 than refined grains. This nutritional powerhouse helps prevent the same health problems that refined grains help cause: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension and even obesity.

5. NUTS
Why: They're excellent sources of protein, magnesium, B vitamins and E--trusty fighters in the war against heart disease and cancer. Yes, nuts are high in fat calories, but their fat is the heart-healthy kind. Replace junky snacks with them and you won't gain an ounce.

6. GOLDEN VEGGIES
Why: Just one serving of fiber-filled, deep-yellow-orange vegetables supplies five times the beta carotene you need daily to lower your cancer risk, defend against colds and other infections, and protect your skin from sun damage. The potassium in these veggies also keeps your heartbeat in sync and your blood pressure down.

7. YOGURT
Why: Low- or no-fat plain yogurt is a terrific source of B vitamins, protein, calcium and --if it has active cultures--the healthy bacteria known as probiotics, which crowd out disease-causing germs.

Red Meat That Can Make You Skinny

Have you ever know that there is red meat that can make you skinny? Well I didn't know either until after reading some articles online. This is one of the reason why I love to surf online, read some articles and share it to my readers. I love to share to all of you some important fact that I feel everyone should know. And I myself try to implement some important fact and knowledge to have a good health.

Here are some Red Meat that have less calories:

1. Bison - It said that Bison (aka Buffalo) has less fat and fewer calories (2grama and 122 calories per 3-ounce serving. But have similar taste to beef that you can put on your burger recipe.

They also said that when you eat bison, you won't be expose to the cancer-linked growth hormones and antibiotics administered to farm-raised cows.

2. Beef and veal - are skinniest when they’re loin or round cuts, such as beef bottom sirloin (6g fat, 150 cals) and top round veal (3g, 128 cals). Avoid veal cutlets and breast meat.

3. Pork - Choose leg cuts, such as ham, or loin, as in boneless sirloin pork chops or top loin chops (both have about 7g fat and 170 cals).

Lamb - Try cuts from the shank half of the leg (if labels aren’t clear, ask the butcher). Well-trimmed shank-half cuts have 5-6 grams fat and about 155 calories per serving.

4 Foods To Fight Breast Cancer

As a woman, reading about an article related to a woman’s body as well as psychological aspect, interest me a lot. As I’ve read about this new article that I’me going to share, it makes me feel responsible to share this to all my readers. It’s something about what we can eat to cut cancer risk
Sometimes, some woman or mother rarely has time to cook because they are working. Figuring out on what to have for dinner is hard enough without having to factor in the latest news about food and cancer. Below are types of foods you can eat according to Lucy Danziger articles.

What to Eat
Fish: Fatty fish like salmon, sardines, and herring are high in omega-3 fatty acids, a healthy fat that's believed to have anticancer properties. Aim for two to three servings a week.

Cruciferous vegetables: Broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage are powerful cancer fighters and appear to contain chemicals that turn on your body's natural detox enzymes. Eat them raw or slightly steamed (cooking breaks down the protective chemicals). Shoot for five servings a week.

Berries: The more colorful, the better! These fruits are rich in antioxidants, which protect cells from damage, and strawberries and raspberries contain ellagaic acid, which has been shown to protect against breast cancer in lab studies. Sneak these in wherever you can...toss some in your smoothie or even have some with dessert.

Whole grains: Lowfat sources of fiber, such as quinoa, unbuttered popcorn and cereals like All-Bran and Fiber One, may regulate your levels of estrogen and insulin, two hormones that both have been linked to breast cancer. Aim for 25 grams per day.

What to Watch
Red meat: You don't have to forgo the occasional burger (thank goodness!), but eating more than 1.5 servings of red meat per day can nearly double the chances of developing breast cancer. Limit your intake to three servings of lean cuts (such as filet mignon, flank steak or sirloin) a week or fewer.

Alcohol: As few as two drinks a day may increase breast cancer risk by 20 percent, possibly by raising estrogen levels. There's nothing wrong with having some wine with dinner, but it's safest to average no more than one drink a day. (Savor it! I mix soda water in my white wine to make one glass last through dinner.)
