Looks Like Philippine Mango...

It just look like from the Philippines but this mango is actually from Haiti which I believe also a tropical country. Anyway, mango is very delicious and nutritious fruit which contains beta-carotene, vitamin A, Vitamin C, vitamin E, Selenium, B-complex (anti-stress) vitamins, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, selenium, Folic acid (folate), and zinc.

I have never heard this before but do you know that people who eat mango have more sun tolerance? Mango is also a good source of dietary fiber. They also contain some protein and amino acids and it is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium.

Banana

I grew up in a tropical country where most bananas grows. There are different kinds, colors and names of Banana. There are red banana, yellow, green, and orange. The one that I love most is what we called "Tonton or Latondan". Bananas are one of our best sources of potassium, an esssential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure and heart function. It's also good for our eyes and for improving Elimination. It also build better Bones and reduce the risk of having Kidney Cancer.

Lanzones

For some reason...can't figure out what but I started to make difference on this blog. I mean if before, as you've noticed I posted a lot things about the food I cook, other recipes and all that kind of stuff. And recently, I started to post about fruits and it's info. Pretty much interesting or boring? hope not boring at all. I don't have any intention to bore my visitors and readers. I am here to share different variety of foods, fruits, tips and maybe more in the future.

Lanzones is a sweet tropical fruit indigenous to parts of Southeast Asia like Philippines. It grows in Camiguin Island, in my grandfathers place. As a matter of fact, my beloved grandparents have more than 200 trees in Camiguin. Wish I could go home on the festival. I used to go to Camiguin every summer when I was still with my grandmother. I remember, when my husband went to the Philippines, My grandmother wanted to treat us to Camiguin. Sad to say Tony have no more time left to go there. I wish we did then. Now there will be no more grandma to come with us.

Rambutan

After I craved for dried fish, salted fish sauce and other Filipino food, now I am dying to eat the fruits I used to eat when I was in the Philippines. I miss them all so much. I am just happy to get Pomelo in asian market. Now I was craving for Rambutan especially after I saw this picture.

Here's some fact about Rambutan:

Rambutan, Nephelium lappaceum, is a fruit considered exotic to people outside of its native range. To people of Malaysia, Thailand, the Phillippines, Vietnam, Borneo, and other countries of this region, the rambutan is a relatively common fruit the same way an apple is common to many people in cooler climates. This may change for the rambutan over time as availability and distribution improve.

The word "rambut" in the fruit name 'rambutan' is Malay for 'hairy,' and this refers to the spiky rind. Indeed, without the soft spines on the rind, the rambutan would resemble the lychee (or litchee) which is in the same botanical family. The structure internally is quite similar, with a single central inedible seed and edible white flesh wrapped around it but the skin is the part that makes the rambutan so distinctive in appearance. Other members of the same botanical family, the Sapindaceae, include the longan (Dimocarpus longan), the canepa or mamoncillo (Melicoccus bijugatus), the pulasan (Nephelium mutabile), and guaranĂ¡ (Paullinia cupana).
